History & Mission

Since 1960, the German-American School of Palo Alto (GASPA) has offered immersion-based instruction in the German language and in the culture, traditions, and geography of the world’s German-speaking countries.

The school is independent organization and is not affiliated with any school or religious organization. Classes are open to all students interested in learning about German in German regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Board of Directors

The school is administered by a member elected committee (“Board of Directors”) consisting of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and two parent representatives. These positions are on a volunteer basis. The executive committee is selected during the annual general meeting every spring for a 2 year term and meets every month or as otherwise arranged.
